Workshop on Addressing Barriers to Scaling-Up Renewable Energy
Workshop on Addressing Barriers to Scaling-Up Renewable Energy
The Indian Renewable Energy Federation (IREF) in partnership with Idam is organising a Western Region Stakeholders’ Workshop on ‘Addressing Barriers to Scaling-Up Renewable Energy’ on 09 May 2017, at the Mirage Hotel, Andheri. The initiative is supported by Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation (SSEF).
The success of achieving Government of India’s target of deploying 175 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2022 depends primarily on the active participation of the states. IREF with the support of SSEF is organizing workshops in each region to understand state/region specific problems being faced by the project developers and to give recommendations to Union and State Government. IREF has conducted workshops in the Northern region at Chandigarh and Eastern region at Bhubaneshwar.
The proposed workshop in Mumbai aims to identify the barriers to implement renewable energy technologies in the Western region comprising Maharashtra, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh and discuss policy, regulatory and technical issues, both at the Central and State level.
The workshop also aims to identify challenges, avenues for availing finance and discuss business models to promote deployment of solar rooftop systems.
