Energy Transition

The Energy Transition (ET) practice offers services across multiple facets of the industry from Renewable Energy (RE) grid integration studies, procurement strategy, policy analysis and design to RE transition and due diligence support. With expertise in energy modelling, including national and state-level capacity expansion, storage modelling, and RTC modelling, it also provides flexibility resource assessment, project feasibility development and structuring, and transmission planning and assessment studies. The Energy Transition team is technically proficient and experienced in various clean energy technologies such as solar, wind (onshore and offshore), hydro, storage (battery and pumped hydro), hybrid, biomass, municipal solid waste, waste-to-energy, hydrogen, and electric vehicles.

Energy Modelling

Energy Modelling incorporates simulation and forecasting of the electricity grids by considering various input parameters such as the existing and contracted generation, the hourly Renewable Energy (RE) generation profiles and load profiles, load projections, transmission constraints, and several other scenarios. These input parameters represent the operating conditions of the grid, and a scenario and uncertainty analysis add a layer of reliability to the results. Processing such simulations on mathematically driven optimization engines can highlight the long-term resource mix under various scenarios and uncertainties while also providing a short-term hourly/sub-hourly dispatch analysis. These results give a practical insight into grid operations that can enable various stakeholders to take informed decisions.

We have a dedicated modelling team under the ET practice that is experienced in using various modelling tools. We have partnered with Energy Exemplar, Australia, for promoting PLEXOS as an integrated energy modelling solution for the changing face of the Indian power sector. Energy And Water Audit Services

Reducing expenditure is a key concern for any business and minimizing energy and water consumption can dramatically reduce costs. An energy and water audit are the most effective energy and water management tool. The Energy and Water Audit consists of identification, inspection, survey and in-depth analysis of Energy and Water consumption in the industry. The audit identifies and quantifies unaccountable energy and water loss at each point of use within and around the facility. Our commercial and industrial energy and water efficiency inspections deliver detailed consumption analysis of every aspect of your operation and will provide clear, actionable ways to cut your costs and boost your green credentials.

Carbon Footprint

Being carbon neutral is becoming increasingly important. Let’s start together now to reduce our carbon footprint. Carbon footprinting is the practice of calculating the total amount of greenhouse gases (including CO2 & Methane) that are generated/caused by individuals, events, services and/or organization actions. Carbon neutrality attracts customers looking for environmentally friendly businesses with sustainable practices. As a consultancy company, Idam Group supports customers in reducing their carbon footprint in a variety of projects. As a strategic partner, we focus on innovative solutions. The potential for reducing CO2 in the power and industrial sectors is significant. We help our clients to identify sources of greenhouse emissions in the value chain, identify and capture greenhouse gas reduction opportunities, achieve carbon neutrality and increase the brand value.

Environmental and Social

Energy transition is an integral part of fighting climate change and adopting sustainable practices. The need for high energy supplies and affordability has led to a bigger spotlight on Renewable Energy technologies. Along with being one of the major components of energy transition, Renewable Energy is also a proven way of providing decentralised energy systems for the society. The emphasis on adopting Renewable Energy with its suitable applications is with the aim of achieving SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) which is the main goal of transitioning from conventional to non-conventional, alternative sources of energy. The role of community is central to this endeavour. The connection between Renewable Energy, community, and environment is critical to establish sustainability in its truest sense in the domain of energy. Our Energy Transition vertical works with the objective of advocating for a just transition. It aims to work on industry, innovation, and technology applications that reach the goal of climate action (SDG 13).

While working on the Renewable Energy aspects, it is of central importance to us to adopt an inclusive approach. In our recent work on offshore wind energy, inclusivity has also been an integral part of the major development plans along with environmental and social compliance. In doing so, we attempt to address the goal of energy transition with due consideration of SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 7 (Affordable and clean energy), SDG 8 (Decent work and economic growth), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the goals). Our offshore wind energy work is indicative of our desire for national, regional and local collaborations and making sustainable development collaborative in nature. We also aim to work towards collaborations on effective Renewable Energy technology to ensure smaller carbon and water footprints and better placing in terms of lifecycle. On a broader scale, we address:

  • Environmental and social implications of Renewable Energy projects.
  • Potential of inclusivity in Renewable Energy implementation and a collaborative approach.
  • Working towards a just transition.
  • Integrating environmental and social safeguards/frameworks in Renewable Energy implementation and policy development.
  • Integrating innovations in Renewable Energy technology that could pose s smaller threat in terms of lifecycle.
