MNRE-WB-SBI Workshop on Senior Management Consultation on Development of GRPV Program – Nagaland
The World Bank in partnership with the Department of New & Renewable Energy (DNRE) organised a Workshop on Senior Management Consultation on Development of GRPV Program in Nagaland on 11 October, 2018. SUPRABHA has provided technical assistance (TA) to 17 states till date.
Advisor to the Chief Minister and in-charge of the NRE department, Mr. Mmhonlumo Kikon and Mr. Kavito Chishi, Director, Department of NRE addressed the event. Senior official of SUPRABHA, NRE officials graced the event. Mr. Kikon acknowledged World Bank, the State Bank of India and the MNRE for the development. He stated that the government had proposed setting up smaller-sized solar parks with a capacity of 23 MW. But, the state is currently facing shortage of funds for the project. He further requested World Bank to commission a study to devise most appropriate project costing for RE projects in the NE region. NERC Chairman, Imlikumzuk Ao suggested GRPV installation in places like Dimapur where there is frequent power interruption due to weak distribution network. The team leader of SUPRABHA, Yuvraj Dinesh Babu said that, of the 100 GW of solar power targeted to be generated in India by 2022, 40 GW is projected to be generated from rooftop solar system and Nagaland has been given the target of generating 50 MW through RTS. Mr. Rajiv Shukla, Associate Director, Idam, delivered a presentation and emphasized on the need for GRPV Policy and the importance in scaling up GRPV deployment in the state.
The workshop aimed at providing better understanding of the RTS technology, its benefits and implementation in Nagaland. Idam is one of the key implementation partner of EY led consortium providing technical assistance to 17 states under the MNRE-WB-SBI GRPV TA Program.
